Education in Many Different Ways

Having an education is very important nowadays especially when people are trying to get a job.  Many people are not eligible to get a job if they do not have a high school diploma or GED. Receiving an education does not only have to come from a school. An education can come from several different places. For example, people can obtain an education from their family members, church members, friends, jobs and etc. As said on the web site of Education, Human Development Network, the definition of education is universally recognized as a fundamental building block for human development and one of the strongest instruments for reducing poverty. With that being said, education can impact the whole entire nation from young to old.

Education first starts in the homes where children live. Starting at a young age parents teach and prepare their children for the world outside of their houses. They educate, which is to inform (Dictionary.com/inform), their children on how to pay attention when they are told to do so, walk, talk, read, write, be polite, and many more things. Parents are the first to get their children ready for the world. Day care places too get children prepared to go to school to better their education if parents do not have any time to do it for them.

In day cares and at home children are mainly taught to learn their alphabets, the buildings that are around, how to write their names, how to meet and greet other people and a lot of other fun stuff that they have prepared for them. With them being prepared it means that the children are now ready to learn, to listen and to be involved by opening up their mind to receive whatever it is their teacher is about to give to them.

In addition, when thinking about the word education there are many different words and things that can be pulled form the word education. For example, the word discipline comes to mind. Discipline means to bring to a state of order and obedience by training and control (Dictionary.com/discipline). Being discipline keeps people in line at school, work, and whichever public place somebody may enter. It makes people become respectful when they are disciplined. While at work, a product of exertion, labor, or activity (Dictionary.com/work), people have to be respectful towards their bosses, co-workers and customers. Even before someone starts a job they have to go through training, learning and understanding what is being told, so that they will know the rules of the job and could be well disciplined on what is expected of them.

Additionally, being at school there has to be some discipline that comes along with the student. The students have to be disciplined, which then lean towards on to their behavior, which is attitude and being respectful. Being respectful is the second thing that teachers would look for in a student when they come to school. The third thing that they would look for is a student, a student is a person formally engaged in learning esp. one enrolled in a school or college (Dictionary.com/student), being smart, smart is having or showing quick intelligence or ready mental capability (Dictionary.com/smart). The teachers, the instructors, would love for their students to be smart because then it will be easier on them to teach the class.

To teach is to impart knowledge of or skill in; give instructions in (Dictionary.com/teach). Being in school is not the only place where somebody can teach a person or people and it is not the only place where people can learn, to acquire knowledge of or skill in by study, instruction, or experience (Dictionary.com/learn), and be taught. People anywhere can teach anybody, like the people in a community, which is a social group of any size whose members reside in a specific locality, share government, and often have a common cultural and historical heritage (Dictionary.com/community). There can be somebody on the street that can teach a young child how to know when to cross the street and when not to. Also within a community churches can teach and educate people on numerous of things. For example, the gospel, the teachings of Jesus, morals, the Bible, songs and also lessons, a section into which a course of study is divided (Dictionary.com/lesson) are being taught at churches.

When being taught at church it is generally on the spiritual and religious side of life. The pastor goes on speaking about how good Jesus was and how good He still is. There are many different kinds of churches that teach different kinds of religions, religion is a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe (Dictionary.com/religion). For example, Methodist, Catholic, Christian, Baptists, Lutherans, Non denomination, Sabbath, evangelical, full gospel churches and many more all teach different kinds of religions. The reason why there are many different types of religions is because people do not always believe on the same thing other people believe in.

As a result, in the many churches, a building of public Christian worship (Dictionary.com/church), that I have listed, they do their own stuff. This is possible because of the right to worship anyway you want. Even though I said earlier that the churches speak on the gospel that is not all they do in churches. For instance, at my church which is a Baptist church, they help people with their home work and they also plan trips for the congregation to attend. My church also plan different parties for different occasions. Like for Halloween on this pass Sunday, October 31, 2010, my church had a party on the Saturday October 30, 2010 before Halloween for the children that do not feel safe about going trick or treating. In addition, the different churches that I have listed do not all do the same things because of their own culture, the quality in a person or society that arises from a concern for what is regarded as excellent in arts, letters, manners, scholarly pursuits, etc. (Dictionary.com/culture) that they include themselves in or that they were raised in.

Furthermore, family members, any group of persons closely related by blood, as parents, children, uncles, aunts, and cousins (Dictionary.com/family), can help out their loved ones, a close or cherished relation (Dictionary.com/loved one). For example, when somebody in the family needs help on their homework that person can ask around and see who could help, to give or provide what is necessary to accomplish a task or satisfy a need (Dictionary.com/help), them. They can ask their aunt, uncle, cousin, brother, sister, mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, and even the extended family. Asking a family member to help with any type of work is a good thing because two minds are always better than one. Many people may talk to their parents first before they go and speak to anyone else, maybe because several people say that parents are wiser.

Also, there is no limit to asking people for help because everyone needs help every now and then even children that are attending elementary school, middle school, high school and college. The most help may be needed in elementary and middle school because that is when students are still learning new things and getting used to school. The least help may be given or asked for in college because people may know already the basics of the class; they would just have to learn the new strategy that the teacher would give them. Not trying to say that college students would not need help I am just saying that they would probably understand classes much better now then they did when they were in elementary and so forth.

There is nothing wrong with asking for help. If a child is falling behind in a class because he or she does not understand an assignment, which is a position of responsibility, post of duty, or the like, to which one is appointed (Dictionary.com/assignment), then they could possibly get in trouble by their parents or even by the dean of students at their school. In no doubt I am sure that no child wants to get in trouble by their parents so therefore they would more than likely do their work. As a result of children doing their work it can lead to good things. They can become top of the class in their elementary, middle school, high school and or college. Becoming top of the class could mean that they may become valedictorian, a person, usually the most outstanding graduate, who delivers a farewell speech at a graduation ceremony (Dictionary.com/valedictorian), or salutatorian, which is the student ranking second highest in the graduating class, who delivers the salutatory at commencement (Dictionary.com/salutatorian). Becoming those things would be a great thing to brag about because it will make other people proud of them.

On the other hand, if somebody does not become great or do well in school; bad things can happen. A student may get suspended all the time for poor behavior, kicked out of class or school and may lose the chance of getting into another school if other schools have the behavior record of that child. “Parents send children to school to learn and to gain a good education in order to live a productive life (Behavior in the classroom).” By all means no parent wants to come up to a school and pick up their child from getting an education for bad behavior.  Most parents would think that “When children start school there is the expectation that education will make a positive difference in their lives (Behavior in the classroom).” Being positive and having a positive attitude is what is best for the student and the school. If a child is not brought up at their home to have a positive attitude then it they will not have a positive attitude at school. Also the parent can not get mad at their child for acting out and being unpleasant at school if they do not teach their child to be pleasant.

Having a positive attitude can get someone a long ways in life, such as having a successful life. A successful life starts off with a great education. Starting off with doing well in elementary, if elementary does not go well then there is still a chance to do great in middle school. Also if middle school does not go well then there is high school and that is it because in high school it determines what kind of college a person is going to get into. In high school there are many different tests that have to be taken in order to determine where a student is on an educational level.

Further more once those tests are taken it will now be time for that person to pick out what college they want to attend. Picking out a college is not that easy because they do not just accept students like high schools do. They will accept or decline anybody if they do not have the requirements completed in order to get into their college, which is an institution of higher learning, esp. one providing a general or liberal arts education rather than technical or professional training (Dictionary.com/college), or university, an institution of learning of the highest level, having a college of liberal arts and a program of graduate studies together with several professional schools… (Dictionary.com/university). Once a person has a great and successful education they could now start looking for a job, a post of employment; full-time or part-time position (Dictionary.com/job), and have a great career, an occupation or profession, esp. one requiring special training, followed as one’s lifework (Dictionary.com/career).

In addition, having a great career can then lead into having an amazing life, such as, having a house, car and family. Having a family will demand that person to take care of their family by providing love, clothes and food. Now that that person has a great life and career their family does not have to starve. Moreover, Education is the key to life, success and discipline, having an education is very important and it will impact the whole entire nation of people young and old. As said on the web site of Education, Human Development Network, the definition of education is universally recognized as a fundamental building block for human development and one of the strongest instruments for reducing poverty. Seeing that it was stated earlier in the paper that going to school, getting help from family and friends for school work and getting a high school diploma is very important; it all leads to the end results of education which is being able to obtain a job or career!
